I've been thinking about this lately as well. The way that "friends" became "followers" is rather insidious when you put it into the context of our evolving social media platforms.
I have a serious problem this describes it perfectly. It's all I do. Sometimes I just want to cry how inepr and stale my life is COMPARED to the others. It is an interesting phenomenon though that I grew up when visual fame was a tightly controlled commodity; tightly controlled by corporate executives who had exclusive almost monopolistic access to channles of publicity. Now it's a free-for-all; anyone can become famous on their own merit and gumption.
This heavily touched home, thank you for putting into words how many of us feel 💕 and perhaps we are not even aware that we feel how we do
I’m glad why words resonated so deeply with you. Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective to help us gain some clarity 💚

I think it’s so dehumanising.
When our worth as people is solely defined by our wealth as products, it's dehumanizing by design.
